I have always admired bridges. They are often an engineering marvel and this bridge is no exception. The Lake Barkley bridge was opened in 2019 and replaced and older bridge. Crossing the Cumberland River at Canton, Kentucky, the bridge is stunning at sunset.
Did you know there are Elks in Kentucky? They used to roam freely in the western Kentucky area and were hunted out to extinction over a hundred years ago. They have been reintroduced to the Land Between the Lakes area in a special prairie for them and a buffalo heard.
The storms rolled across the Illinois prairie yesterday evening and it was quite a show from the clouds.
Heron Park just north of Danville Illinois is a wonderful place to visit and do some bird watching. My recent visit I saw a number of songbirds and numerous Canadian Geese. Often there is also Egrets and Herons there, but non on my short visit.
There is a floating walkway that you can traverse and go out into the marshlands and give you a closer look at everything.
This Downy Woodpecker was hanging around at the bird feeder at the Homer Lake Interpretive Center on a late Sunday afternoon. It was a gloomy day, so I used Light Room to do some adjustments on this. Shot with Nikon Z9 100-400 f5.6 1/1000 iso 100.
We had a weekend visit to Tampa Bay, Florida to watch the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois take on the Mississippi State University Bulldogs. It wasn’t the victory we hoped for the Illini as they fell 19-10, but a fabulous game to watch. The Marriott on Water Street provided the view to get these pictures of the beautiful Tampa Bay skyline.
