About Greg and Brooke Knott

Brooke and Greg Knott at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico.

Meet Greg

Greg grew up in Central Illinois on a grain farm in the heart of farming country near St. Joseph, Illinois. His family still owns this farm and he is actively involved to this day. There is nothing quite like watching the sunrise and sunset over the prairie, where you can see for miles. Often the clouds are simply stunning as they roll through.

He has taken photos consistently since he was a young child, starting with a Kodak Instamatic 100 Camera. In high school he moved up to the Pentax K1000 and later the Pentax ME Super, where he was a photo editor for the SJO yearbook. When digital camera’s came on the scene, he was an early adapter and purchased a Sony Mavica MVC-FD71 in the late 1990’s. Today he use’s Nikon and is currently shooting the Nikon Z9, the flagship camera released in 2021. He is also an avid user of the Apple iPhone 14 MaxPro.

Greg said “Taking pictures has always let me feel that I am a part of the action, whether that is visiting a historic site, walking through an old cemetery or taking photos at a live event. To me there is just nothing quite like capturing the moment with a photograph.”

Recently he began learning to fly drones and has the DJI Phantom 3 Standard and the DJI Mini 2. The unique perspective they can give you is yet another way to share the story.

Through this website, he and Brooke will share with you the people we meet and the places we visit. All of them have unique story all their own.

Meet Brooke

Brooke grew up on a grain and livestock farm near Albion, Illinois. She was active in 4-H and FFA and played several sports at Edwards County High School. Brooke earned a scholarship and played volleyball at Washington University in St. Louis, where she was co-captain of her team that won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 1989. She was later inducted into both the Edwards County High School Hall of Fame and the Washington University Hall of Fame. She recently retired from the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

Always passionate about taking pictures, Brooke took pictures growing up around the farm, of the family, her favorite pets and later of Riley and Hayden, Brooke and Greg’s children. Brooke is currently using a Nikon D610 and her iPhone 14 Max Pro.

Today she can be found taking care of her small flock of chickens, gardening and enjoying her Kayak in central Illinois or on Lake Barkley, Kentucky, where she and Greg have another home.
